Special Needs: The Fold School Way

Because we know our children so well, we consider each child "special" and have identified each child's "special needs". These are far ranging, but generally fall into three categories - medical needs, gifted/talented pupils, and academic needs. For instance, the need to be stretched and challenged in work, additional support in concentrating on the task, help in making and maintaining friendships, enhanced practical supervision due to a medical situation or severe allergies. Our small environment allows us to address these issues.

If staff feel that any child is not achieving as well as we would like, a meeting will be held with the parents to decide on appropriate action such as individual tuition and testing. It is our policy to provide any child who is having learning difficulties with one term free individual tuition for diagnosis and confidence-building where this is deemed helpful. Continued extra help can be provided at the parents' expense if requested. We have a S.E.N.C.O. (qualified special needs teacher).
