Behaviour and Discipline

There is good behaviour throughout the school. Any unacceptable behaviour is dealt with by the team immediately it occurs. Staff all respect the same boundaries and the children are made aware of them. Staff often use a passing colleague to reinforce comments about exceptionally good or bad behaviour. After an incident, children are involved in a discussion about the reasons for bad behaviour and suggestions are made to prevent a recurrence. The child is asked if they think the sanctions imposed are fair. Staff respect the child's viewpoint and will modify sanctions if appropriate. If further reinforcement is needed, parents are invited to attend a discussion meeting with staff and child (full details are provided in the Behaviour Policy). Behaviour, concentration, punctuality etc. cards are often requested by children who think they need them. Our Behaviour Policy explains how we prevent unkindness and bullying. A behaviour book is kept by each team describing the incident and action taken to remedy the situation.
