The Management Team
The Management Team leads the whole school in all areas: academic, social, emotional and financial etc.
It comprises:
The Principal - Dr. Carolyn Drake
The Deputy Head - Mr. Frank Bartram
Proprietors - Mr. Michael Drake, Mrs. Barbara Drake, Dr. Carolyn Drake
The school is organised into four sections:
Nursery = Pre-nursery and Nursery
Lower school = Reception (Orange group) and Year 1 (Red group)
Middle school = Year 2 (Purple group), Year 3 (White group) and Year 4 (Gold group)
Upper school = Years 5 and 6
The Nursery and Pre-Nursery
The purpose-built Nursery opens onto the garden where there is an all-weather safety playground, a two-storey Wendy house, sand-pit and play apparatus. The Nursery is equipped with a wide range of play apparatus, craft, didactic, pre-reading and mathematical materials. The first learning experiences are through structured play. Letterland and Jolly Phonics, our own pre-reading and pre-maths schemes and practical science activities lead on to our English, Maths and Science schemes as soon as appropriate.
Within the Nursery the staff/child ratio varies from session to session, the largest session being 11 children at the moment when both our teacher and nursery nurse work with the children. French and Music are taught by our in-house teachers and so the move from Nursery to Reception is very smooth as they already know the teachers. Dancing is offered as an option.
Pre-Nursery children (2 ½ - 3 ½ years) usually attend several afternoon sessions. Nursery children (3 ½ - 4 ½ years) usually start off with several morning sessions at the beginning of the year, working up to full time in the Summer term in preparation for the move to Reception. Many children extend their session or come in early in order to share our lunch. We therefore offer quite a flexible sessions system which can meet both the children's and parents needs, of course depending on availability.

The Middle School - Years 2, 3 and 4 &
Upper School - Years 5 and 6

There is a significant change in atmosphere when the children move up to the Middle School with greater emphasis on autonomy.
The children no longer have a class teacher, but rather have specialist primary trained teachers who teach two or three subjects each. Children and teachers therefore move from room to room according to the lesson.
The atmosphere in the Upper School is again different, with an emphasis on responsibility and privileges. Our Years 5 and 6 have most of their lessons in 197 which is specially adapted for children of this age.
